Kia ora koutou ē hoa mā
Welcome to Thursday morning and the hints - and perhaps more importantly, more lyrics! Though as always, I have been impressed by how many people were able to guess the songs correctly with only Monday’s limited lyrics…
Please use the below format to send your answers to thelyricsquiz@gmail.com by 3pm today (NZ time).

I know you’ll have a great day friends.
Kirsti.
1970s: “Title Title Title”, [Artist]
And I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know, I know, I know|
I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know
Hey, I ought to leave the young thing alone
But ain't no sunshine when she's gone
Hint: When this R&B and soul singer wrote this song, he was working at a factory making bathrooms for 747s at the time he wrote the song. When the song went gold, the record company presented him with a golden toilet seat to mark the start of his new career - but he refused to resign from the factory because he believed the music business was a fickle industry. He went on to have two more gold singles - “Lean on Me” and “Use Me”, while you may also know his songs “Lovely Day” and “Just the Two of Us”. Song title in lyrics quoted.
1980s: “Title Title”, [Artist]
Honey, I know, I know, I know times are changing
It's time we all reach out for something new
That means you, too
You say you want a leader
But you can't seem to make up your mind
I think you better close it
And let me guide you to the purple rain
Hint: Fairly sure the last two words of these lyrics are all the hints you need for this song.
1990s: “Title”, [Artist]
Don't go chasing waterfalls (Don't go, don't go)
Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used to
I know that you're gonna have it your way or nothing at all (I know, I know, your way, hey)
But I think you're moving too fast
Hint: Fairly sure the first four words of these lyrics are all the hints you need for this song.
2000s: “Title Title Title Title”, [Artist]
But you better not steal the moves
DJ, gonna burn this godd*mn house right down
Oh, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know
I know there may be others
And so, and so, and so, and so, and so, and so, and so
You'll just have to pray
Hint: This song was the most played song of 2002 in Europe, and is a very fun banger with a delightfully entertaining music video. This is by far and away her most famous song, although you may also know her from “Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)”, her collaboration with Italian DJ Spiller. Song title not in lyrics quoted.
2010s: “Title Title Title Title Title Title Title”, [Artist 1] & [Artist 2]
Look me in the eyes, my lover (He-hey)
I know what you did last summer
Tell me where you've been
I know, I know, I know, I know (Ah-ah), I know, I know, I know (He-ey)
I know, I know, I know, I know (Ah-ah), I know, I know, I know (Ah-ah)
I didn't mean it, no (Ah-ah), I didn't mean it, mean it, no (He-hey)
Can't seem to let you go (Ah-ah), can't seem to hold you close (Ah-ah)
Hint: This duet is a song by a Canadian singer who will “Treat You Better” and a former member of Fifth Harmony - this song served as her debut single. It was written backstage spontaneously on one of Taylor Swift's The 1989 World Tour stops - he was her opening act, and her group was the surprise guest. This song shares its title with a famous horror film franchise, and samples the first song from this quiz. Song title in lyrics quoted.
2020s: “title title title title title”, [Artist]
The party's done, and I'm no fun, I know, I know
I know, I know
I broke a glass, I tripped and fell
I told secrets I shouldn't tell
I stumbled over all my words
I made it weird, I made it worse
Hint: This garage rock song from a former Disney star who has her Driver’s Licence draws on some of her feelings from being homeschooled as a teenage girl - she felt she missed out on a regular high school experience and experienced lots of confusion, mistakes, awkwardness & good old fashioned teen angst when trying to spend time with other teenagers who’d been through the regular high school experience. Bad Idea, Right? Song title not in lyrics quoted - a key clue you’ll need is that one of the words in the title can be defined as “a slow sentimental or romantic song”, even though this song is not that at all.
